Explain the relationship between creativity and intelligence. State the important features of creativity tests.


Various researches have been conducted to determine the relationship between creativity and intelligence. The findings from that researches suggest that there is a positive relationship between creativity and intelligence. A certain level of intelligence is required for creativity but beyond that intelligence does not correlate well with creativity. It can be said that creativity can take many forms and blends.

Creativity tests came into existence to assess variations in terms of the potential for creativity in contrast to intelligence

a) A general feature of most of the creativity tests is that they are open-ended.
b) Creativity tests involve divergent thinking and assess such abilities as the ability to produce a variety of ideas, i.e. ideas which are to be integrated and applied in the new contexts.
c) Since expressions of creativity are varied, tests have been developed using different stimuli like words, figures, action, and sounds.
d) The creativity tests do not possess a single or questions rather they are open to many answers, also there is no correct answer which is usually there in the intelligence tests.
