1. Tehri Dam – Uttarakhand
-It is the highest dam in India & 8th highest dam in the world.
2.Bhakra Dam – Himachal Pradesh
-Largest dam of India and highest gravity dam in the world.
-The Bhakra – Nangal Dam is a joint venture of the governments of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.
-Its reservoir, known as the "Gobind Sagar Lake", is the second largest reservoir in India, stores up to 9.34 billion cubic metres of water.
-One of the longest earthen dam (26 kms) in the world.
4. Nagarjuna Sagar Dam – Andhra Pradesh
-It is the world's largest masonry dam.
-Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is certainly the pride of India-considered the largest man-made lake in the world.
5. Sardar Sarovar Dam – Gujarat
-It is second largest concrete gravity dam (by volume) on the Narmada River near Navagam in Gujarat.
-The dam has the world's third-largest spillway discharging capacity.
6. Indirasagar Dam – Madhya Pradesh
–The largest reservoir in India with a capacity of 12.22 billion cubic meter.
7. Bhavanisagar Dam – Tamil Nadu
-First major irrigation project initiated in India after independence in 1947 and was completed by 1956.
