Reading books is one of the ways to acquire knowledge. It is a vital source for economic and social advancement. Man is not a mere child of instincts. The brainpower distinguishes men from animals. Naturally,  the  human  mind  with  its quest  to acquire  knowledge  is inclined  towards  books,  be it academic, novels, magazines or online variety. Choosing the right book is crucial because a taste for good books can substantially contribute to the proficiency in your career. Reading also shapes you as a person. Every person has different abilities and learn or read at their own pace.

In  the  nineteenth  century,  Victorian  households  used  to  get  together  for  an  hour  or  so  in  the evenings and listen to books being read aloud. Today, we need to read more and more to catch up with  the world  around  us. Educational  researchers  have found  that  there  is a strong &n

correlation between reading and academic success. A student who is a good reader is more likely to do well in school and pass exams than a student  who is a weak reader.  A good reader can understand  the individual sentences and organizational structure of a piece of writing. They can comprehend ideas, follow  arguments  and  detect  implications.  A  good  reader  can  extract  from  the  writing,  what  is important  for  the  particular  task  they  are  employed  in  and  they  can  do  it  quickly.  Educational researchers  have  also  found  a  strong  correlation  between  reading  and  vocabulary  knowledge. Students who have a large vocabulary are usually good readers. Surprisingly, the best way to acquire an excellent vocabulary is to read extensively.
Online reading and ebooks have also caught on considerably. From a student perspective, one can devour books that are either linked to curriculum or even fiction. NCERT publishes all its curriculum books online and there are lot of sites that provide NCERT books answers for students to read and understand  how  to  do  better  in  school.  Devices  like  Kindle  and  smartphones  have  provided additional medium for people to read on irrespective of whether they are travelling or at leisure.
In an attempt to encourage  reading skills among students,  Central Board of Secondary  Education (CBSE) has recommended a selection of books from various publications for students to read. The list of recommended books includes 14 books of Katha, a charitable organization in the Capital. Seven of the Katha titles are in English and seven in Hindi. The selection presents a group of bestselling books from fiction as well as the non-fiction category. Good reading enhances the power of imagination, expression and appreciation of literature. Reading habits also helps tremendously in improving comprehension, accuracy and fluency. Students would be provoked to questioning, generating ideas, thinking abilities by inculcating good reading habits.
Read it aloud and read it often to bring out the best in you.
