Electrostatic Potential

The electrostatic potential is defined as work required to be done against the force by the electric field in bringing a unit positive charge from an infinite distance to the given point in the electric field is called the electrostatic potential (V) at that point.

According to above definition, the electric potential at point P is given by the formula

SI unit of electrostatic potential is JC-1 = Volt(V)
