Iodoform gives precipitate with silver nitrate on heating while chloroform does not. why?
When chloroform reacts with AgNO3 it form AgCl.
AgNO3 + CHCl3(chloroform) ---> AgCl + CHCl2 + NO3-1 AgCl is a very soluble ppt in acq. sol. so, it tends to reionize more than staying precipitated.as its solubility is very high and especially with heating because its solubility product is high. while in case of iodoform, it reacts with AgNO3 to form AgI
AgNO3 + CHI3(Iodoform) -------------> AgI (ppt) + CHCl2+ NO3- AgI is less soluble in solution on heating as its solubility product is low.
