The decreasing order of acidic strength:
Hydrocarbon: : Ethyne> Benzene > n-Hexane
Hybridization of C-atoms : (sp) (sp2) (sp3)
The acidic character is linked with the percentage of s-character. Greater the s-character, more is the electronegativity of the carbon atom and more will be the acidic character.
Give simple chemical test for the distinction of:
(i) Propyne and propane
(ii) But-1-yne and But-2-yne.
