Write the following complex numbers in polar form and hence, find their modulus and argument.
If Z1 = (x - 3y) - i (2x + y), and Z2 = -1 - 5i are equal, find values of x a nd y.
Here, Z1 = (x - 3y) -i(2x + y), Z2 = -1 - 5i
Now, Z1 = Z2 Re(Z1) = Re (Z2) x-3y x = -1 ...(i)
and Z1 =Z2 1m(Z1) = 1m(Z2) - 5 = 2x - y 2x + y = 5 ...(ii)
Solving (i) and (ii) simultancously, we have
x = 2, y = 1
