Let the required rational number be x.

∴ According to the condition, we have

 $open parentheses straight x cross times 5 over 2 close parentheses plus 2 over 3 equals open parentheses negative 7 over 12 close parentheses$

or $5 over 2 straight x plus 2 over 3 equals negative 7 over 12$

Transposing $2 over 3$ to RHS, we have
