  1. Conformers: Majority of the animals (up to 99%) and nearly all plants, cannot maintain a constant internal environment. Their body temperature and osmotic concentration changes according to the surrounding conditions . Such animal and plants are called Conformers.
  2.  Regulators: Some animals maintain their homeostasis by physiological or behavioural means. All birds and mammals (Homeothermic or Warm blooded) and a few lower vertebrates and invertebrates can maintain constant body temperature and constant osmotic concentration regardless of the surrounding
    conditions. Such organisms are called Regulators.
  3. Partial regulators:  If the stressful condition are localized, the animals can escape in place’ and migrate to nearby region, having better environmental conditions.
