The columnar epithelium is found in the lining of stomach and intestine and help in secretion and absorption. It is composed of a single layer of tall and slender cells.

The squamous epithelium is made of a single thin layer of flattened cells with irregular boundaries. They are found in the walls of blood vessels and air sacs of lungs.

Stratified epithelium are closely packed sheets of epithelial cells arranged in layers over the external surface of the body and lining mostof the hollow structures like alveoli and oesophagus.

Pseudostratified epithelium is a special type of simple epithelium that consists of a falsely stratified single layer of epithelial cells resting on a basement membrane.
