  • 42 7 over 11 straight h

  • 43 7 over 11 straight h

  • 44 h

C.

43 7 over 11 straight h

(1M + 3W + 4B)'s 1 h work = 1/96    ...(i)
     (2M + 8B)'s 1 h work = 1/80
  ∴  (1M + 4B)'s  1 h work = 1/160     ...(ii)
Put the value of eq. (ii) in eq. (i),
   ∴    3W's 1 h work = 1/96 - 1/160 = 1/240
  Now,
      (2M + 3W)'s 1 h work = 1/120
∴    2M's 1 h work  = 1/120 - 1/240=  1/240   ...(iii)
As,
     (2M + 8B)'s 1 h work = 1/80
∴       8B's 1 h work = 1/80 - 1/240 = 2/240 = 1/120 (Using (iii))
∴      (5M + 12B)'s 1 h work
equals space fraction numerator 5 over denominator 2 space cross times space 240 end fraction space plus space fraction numerator 12 over denominator 8 space cross times space 120 end fraction
equals space 1 over 96 space plus space 1 over 80 space equals space space fraction numerator 176 over denominator 80 space cross times space 96 end fraction space equals space 11 over 480
∴      (5M + 12B) will finish in
open parentheses 480 over 11 close parentheses space equals space 43 7 over 11 straight h
