Explain how the rate of transpiration is affected on

i. A windy day

ii. A foggy day

1. On a windy day, the rate of transpiration increases because the water vapour released during transpiration is quickly removed with the moving air. This does not allow the water vapour to saturate in the surrounding region of the plant and hence more transpiration.
2. A foggy day has more moisture in the air. Due to more moisture, the air cannot absorb much water vapour released by the plants. Therefore, the rate of transpiration decreases.
