Why should the temperature of the reaction mixture of nitric acid not be allowed to rise above 2000C?
1) Above 2000C the nitric acid decomposes into H2O, NO2 and O2 as it is very unstable to heat.
2)Sodium sulphate or potassium sulphate will be formed which forms a crust over the mixture thus restricting the release of nitric acid vapours.
