Oil Seeds:

  1. India is the largest producer of oilseeds in the world.
  2. Major oilseeds are groundnut, mustard, coconut, sesame, soyabean, sunflower and cotton seeds.
  3. Used as cooking oil, ointment and in the production of soaps and cosmetics.

Sugarcane

Sugarcane:

  1. It is a tropical as well as a subtropical crop.
  2. Grows well in hot and humid climate.
  3. Temperature: 21° to 27°C.
  4. Rainfall: 75 to 100 cm.
  5. India is the second largest producer after Brazil.
  6. The major sugarcane-producing states are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab and Haryana.
