    Find his present age.

    Let the present age of Rehman = x years
    3 years ago, his age was = (x – 3) years and 5 years from now his age will be = (x + 5) years
    Now. according to the given problem, we have
    fraction numerator 1 over denominator straight x minus 3 end fraction plus fraction numerator 1 over denominator straight x plus 5 end fraction equals 1 third
