The angles of a right-angled triangle shaped garden are in the arithmetic progression and the smallest side is 10.00 m. The total length of the fencing of the garden in m is:

  • 60.00

  • 47.32

  • 12.68

  • 22.68

B.

47.32

 Let the three angles in a right angle triangle shaped garden be AB and C. If three angles in a right triangle are in arithmetic progression, the middle valued angle must be less than 90° (three times the middle valued angle = 180°).

So the angles are, 90° + (90° - x) + (90° - 2x) = 180°,

or, 3x = 90°,

or, x = 30°.

The angles are then, 30°60°90°.

The smallest 10m side is opposite to the smallest angle of 30°. So, longest side hypotenuse AC = ABsin 30° = 20 m and the base,

BC = AC cos 30°

or, BC = 20 × 32  20 × 0.85  17m

The perimeter is,

P = AB + CA + BC

or, P ≅ 10m + 20m + 17  ≅ 47 m

Therefore, the value near 47m is  ≅ 47.32
