Vivek invests Rs 4500 in 8%. Rs. 10 shares at Rs. 15. He sells the shares when the price rises to Rs. 30, and invests the proceeds in 12% Rs. 100 shares at Rs. 125. Calculate.

(i) the sale proceeds

(ii) the number of Rs. 125 shares he buys.

(iii) the change in his annual income from dividend.

(i) Number of Rs. 15 shares bought = 450015 = 300

Nominal value of 300 shares = Nominal value of each share x No. of shares = 300 x 10 = 3000 rupees = Rs. 3000

Dividend = 8 % of total F. V= 8100 × 3000 = 240 rupees = Rs. 240

S.P. of shares = 300 x 30 = 9000 rupees = Rs. 9000

Total sale price = Rs. 9000

Thus, the sale proceeds Rs. 9000

(ii) Given,

New market price fopr 1 share = Rs.125

The number of Rs. 125 shares = 9000125 = 72

Thus, the number of Rs. 125 shares he buys 72 shares.

(iii) New nominal value of 1 share = Rs. 100

New nominal value of 72 share is = 72 x Rs. 100 = Rs. 7200

New Dividend = 12100 × 7200 = 864 rupees = Rs. 864

The change in his annual income = Rs. 864 - Rs. 240 = Rs. 624.
