State four causes and four consequences of population explosion.
Four causes of population explosion
1. Increased food production due to advances in science and technology and methods of agriculture.
2. Lack of Family Planning.
3. Increased life expectancy at birth due to better public health care and greater medical attention.
4. Eradication of fatal epidemic or communicable diseases through major community health programmes, availability of antibiotics, better diagnostic support etc.
Four consequences of population explosion :
1. Clearing of forests to accommodate the increasing population has posed new problems of flood, soil erosion and desertification.
2. Food : Due to reduction in agriculture land, slow rate of food production and rapid growth rate of human population, there is shortage of food and thus its cost and demand increases.
3. Degradation of Environment: With the overuse of coal, oil and natural gas, it has started producing some serious effects on our environment.
4. Depletion of resources - To meet the needs of the increasing population the natural resources are over-exploited and hence deplete faster.
