Cartilage

(1) Bone is quite tough, rigid and inelastic.

Cartilage is comparatively soft, elastic and flexible.

(2) The matrix is composed of a tough, inflexible material and ossein.

The matrix is composed of a firm but flexible material the chondrin.

(3) The cells constituting the bone are called osteocytes.

The cells constituting the cartilage are called chondrocytes.

(4) Bone marrow is present, hence RBCs are formed from this.

Bone marrow is absent, hence does not help in the formation of RBCs.

(5) Its matrix has a network of blood vessels, hence vascular.

Its matrix lacks blood vessels, hence non-vascular.
