a. Origin of Damodar rivers is in the hills of Chhotanagpur and at an altitude of 510 metres above sea level. It discharge its water at an altitude 30 metres or less. This diference in elevation gives an idea of its gradient and also its erosive ppower. Descent from one surface level to the other is sudden. Thus, we see that in rainy serasons river Damodar is prone to flooding.
