9.

AB is a diameter of a circle with centre C = (– 2, 5). If A = (3, – 7). Find

(i) the length of radius AC

(ii) the coordinates of B.

Given , AB is diameter of circle with centre C = (- 2, 5).And, A = (3, -7)

(i) Radius of AC = (3 + 2)2 +(- 7 - 5)2

                       = (5)2 +(- 12)2

                       = 25 + 144

                       = 169

                       = 13units.

(ii) Let consider the coordinates of B be (x, y)

Using mid-point formula, we get

 - 2 = 3 + x2      and     5 = - 7 +y2

 - 4 = 3 + x      and     10 = - 7 +y

 x = - 7           and           y = 17

Therefore, the coordinates of points B are (- 7, 17).
