i. Growth of population is the change in the number of people living in a particular area between two given points of time. It is calculated by the net change between two points of time. 

ii. Most of the southern states have lower growth rates of population.The two reasons for high growth rate of population in northern states as compared to southern states is low rate of education in northern states and failure to implement family planning methods properly. 

iii. a. India will become populated country in the world by 2050.  b. There will be shortage of resources especially food for the people. 

iv. The growth rate of population in China was 1 per cent in 1999 - 2000 and that of India it was 1.9 percent during 1991 - 2001.
