Focus: (- 2, 1), Directrix: 2x - 3y + 1 = 0, e = 23


Let P(x, y) be a point on the conic, then

PS = e.PM i.e. (x + 2)2 + y - 12 = 232x - 3y + 14 + 9

Squaring on both sides, we get

 39x2 + y2 + 4x - 2y + 5 = 44x2 +9y2 + 1 - 12xy + 4x - 6y

i.e. 23x2 + 48xy + 3y2 + 140x - 54y + 191 = 0 is the required hyperbola.

Transverse axis passes through (- 2, 1) and is perpendicular to Directrix.

2x - 3y + 1 = 0

Tangent Axis: 3x + 2y + c = 0 where - 6 + 2 + c = 0, c = 4; TA: 3x + 2y + 4 = 0
