45. Draw a labelled energy band diagram for a solid which is an insulator. What is the main difference between this diagram and that of a semiconductor?

Insulator Example - diamond

Difference between insulator and semiconductor is that the forbidden energy gap is 1.1 eV in case of semiconductor (silicon), whereas forbidden energy gap of insulator is very i.e. 7 eV (diamond).
